HARLEY TOP FUEL WINNER PHILLIP CROUCH
Texas Motorcycle Drag Racing witnessed finally a dry, dry raceday with plenty of sun and a whole bunch of hot, hot racin’ with a heat wave mixed in. Houston Motorsports Park in Houston, Texas was our host track on June 7, 2009. I want to thank our much appreciated and quite gracious sponsors: Fas Coonass Racing’s Randal Andres out of Amelia, LA, 5150 Racing Team out of the Houston area, PMS Racing (Purvis Motor Sports) of Lafayette, LA, 5150 Racing, Skunk Dots Biker News Magazine, and TMFC Racing Team of Texas. Our track was honored to witness exhibition passes by New Braunfels, TX’s Mike Lozano.
HARLEY NOSTALGIA FUEL PAUL "CAPTAIN CHROME" JONES WITH CREW CHIEF SARAH
RT WINNER JOSH PATERSON WITH DAD JOHN PATERSON
TMDR has started a point system-Nascar-style. The points stay with the bike throughout the racing season-not the rider. So if you are sick or cannot race, you can throw another pilot that you trust with your baby. We’re asking every bike to keep your same number-so calculating is simplier. Oh, you have to have our decal attached to your bike to qualify. Points are rationed out to each winner per race (100) and runner-up (50). For our Harley Top Fuel category for this event, Garland’s #13 Fletcher “Jocko” Mitchell was unable to attend. However, his bike was there with his crew chief Waxahachie, TX’s Phillip Crouch which he gained another 100 points in his class was winner. This bike is sponsored by Phillip’s Garage, Ace Powder Coating, and Dallas H-D, H-D of Dallas. Harley Top Gas was won by Alvin, TX’s Land Pirate Racing’s #13 Louis Giusto by laying an ET 5.9618 at 116.46 mph. Runner-up was declared by Harvey’s #3 Bob Bonck with an ET 6.7242 at 92.75 mph
The Harley Nostalgia Top Fuel awarded Richardson’s #77 Paul “Captain Chrome” Jones 100 points. Nostalgia means really old Harley Top Fuel Nitro bike usually an antique state of the edge with cutting technology built prior 1985 or younger 70’s. These bikes are still hanging out in dust-covered garages with older riders. This is our cup of tea-BRING THEM OUT. They’re affordable and more practical to race. The highlight of the day was a grudge match between T/F #13 Phillip Crouch versus Nostalgia T/F #77 Captain Chrome. Let me mention, this match was neck-to-neck…until a back cylinder blew. Needless to say, Phillip blew while Captain Chrome on his antiqey thing WON!!! One of our gracious sponsor, 5150 Racing, offers a crisp $100 bill to the lowest RT (reaction time) of the day at each race. Everyone was fussin’ over their time slips. During the day most of the RT was accomplished and held by Willis, TX’s of Brand X Racing’s John “Mad Man” Koehnle (ol’ man on an ol’ Sportster). Until a young pup, 16 year old, Pearland, TX, BRB (ET Bracket B 6.00 up) #417 Josh Paterson on a Zuma (metric bike). RT .00825 =Congratulations, Josh!!! Great try, Mad Man!!!
KING of the CASH WINNER JEREMY WILLIS (RT) RUNNER-UP DOUG MEADOR (LEFT)
HARLEY TOP GAS WINNER LAND PIRATE rACING LOUIE GIUSTO
The last two competitors for KING OF THE CASH ended with Class PP #79 Jeremy Willis taking the win for the SECOND TIME THIS YEAR!!! Runner-up was Class F #35 F.A.R.B. Racing’s of Rockport Doug Meador. To become eligible for King of the Cash, you have to win your heads-up class, we then ask for evsery class winner dial-ins, and last man and/or woman…becomes King of the Cash which means MONEY. (Gee, I’ve never thought about what we would call this if a woman wins.)
Our Junior Class with children is rapidly growing…we ask for the proper racing gear and for them to have the well-behaved racing attitude to especially to respect others to enable them to have fun to race. Everyone is a winner!!! San Antonio’s Dylan Copeland, 10 yr old, whose proud father is Bandido Lynn. Cypress-Spring’s #00 Nate Schutt (6 yr. old), his brother 11 yr old Nick Schutt, and their other brother 10 yr old Noah Schutt. Spring. TX’s Mikali Shaffer, 9 yr old, whose proud father is Mike Shaffer. Cypress, TX’s Shawn Shankar who is 8 yr old. As you can imagine, this category is a family affair with fathers proudly helping and guiding. These children are our racing future…and they LOVE RACING!!!
