HOUSTON MOTORSPORTS PARK - MARCH 1, 2009
"BIG DOGS JUMPED OFF THE PORCH"

March 1, 2009 at Houston Motorsports Park was a Great day for racing…with your leathers and other safety gear like helmets to keep warm. .. no, it wasn’t snowing like up in Yankeeland but just nippy. I want to thank our sponsors…Fas Coonass Racing Randal Andres, Skunk Dots Biker News Magazine, and TMFC Racing Team. The Sportsman racers showed up in herds. All had their hearts dedicated to win the King of the Cash fame after a very long winter time-out. The big dogs jumped off the porch to run with and against the pack…to declare victory. The heads-up classes meant business … the bracket classes were fist-fightin’ in the staging lanes & we’re not even telling what the winners of each heads-up class did when they were competing for the prestige KING OF THE CASH!!!

KING of the CASH WINNER - JEREMY WILLIS

I’d like to point out that gate admittance was only adults $15 & kids under 12 FREE!! In fact all of my future races at HMP will be that price. Vendors were extremely happy with set-up free with gate admittance with advance notification for a reserved spot. My biggest complaint was that the carnival games were handing out too big of toys to haul home on a bike. Let me point out that all tech card monies are given back to the winners PLUS trophies!!! I don’t keep a dime!!!

TOP FUEL WINNER JOCKO MITCHELL --- TOP GAS WINNER SHORTY REEDS

TOP GAS RUNNER-UP BILLY DOUGHERTY

In the Harley top fuel category, it was Shark Racing’s Ricky House “Bandido Sharky’s” birthday out of Humble, TX. So he was given a surprise party…therefore, ended up having a grand time with his brothers after a pass down the track – for stylin’ & profilin’ purposes. Ricky was number two in his division last year with the AMRA. The winner of Top Fuel ended up to be was Garland’s Fletcher “Jocko” Mitchell “the Intimadator”. Jocko is sponsored by Dallas H-D, H-D of Dallas, Tiretown, Phillip’s Garage, Ace Powder Coating, and MPM.
The Harley Top Gas saw a small army making a fuss…plus they stirred up the dust. I want to thank Eager Beaver Racing’s Dan Beaver of Rosenberg, TX for making an appearance. He’s sponsored by Another Time Soda Shop, Miko Bath House, and Beaver Tire Shop. Mr. Beaver’s won third place. Also, Alvin, TX’s Louie Giusto of Land Pirate Racing broke his tranny during qualifying – otherwise, they both would have been a wrecking crew to deal with. The final pair to race was Reed vs. Doherty. Longview, TX’s Shorty Reed of Dragon Breath Racing won 2nd place last year in the pro gas with the AMRA and first place at Gulfport last year for the Memorial Day Blowout in Mississippi. Lake Charles, LA’s Billy Doherty is sponsored by Lake Charles H-D on his V-ROD Destroyer. He also runs with the bigger associations and was number one in his own right in the Destroyer division. Shorty and Billy were furious competitors from start to finish…finally, after the smoke settled Shorty won with et 5.318 at 125.24 mph versus Billy’s et 5.836 at 117.55mph. Thank you gentlemen, all, for your appearance and show.

THE ONE & ONLY "INFAMOUS" CAPTAIN CHROME
AKA PAUL JONES - NOSTALGIA TOP FUELER

The Harley Nostalgia Top Fuel (pre-1984 and/or pre-dinosaur era) saw “Captain Chrome” Paul Jones of Dallas taking the win. Out of all the years of racing nostalgia fuelers, this was a first for Paul-when he won this time – HE WON A TROPHY PLUS MONEY!! Then he got kinda frisky & invited his ol’ buddy Lloyd Stenerson to a grudge match. Lloyd has a Class Z Harley with wheelie-bars that runs on alcohol. Captain Chrome has a Harley bike on steroids – it has wheelie-bars which runs on Nitromenthene. There was no mercy here-no dial ins – no handicap – just plain run-what-ya-brung – heads-up & hope ya have enough. Both of these long-time friends ended their relationship just before the starting line…this was the match to end all sorta of bar stool racin’ for once and for all. As they paired up on the line, all kinds of trash talkin’ quit, the lites fell to green, tunnel-vision took on both racers towards the end of the track, they obligated to just their inner senses without the outside world, & both envisioned Victory above the other. Both racers (use to be buddies until the lites fell) were throwing down neck-to-neck action after they launched. Captain Chrome had his hands full, took everything he had, plus he brought his sack lunch to just bearly beat Lloyd by inches. But the “talkin’ trash” was over – until next time.

Our junior field has been multiplying with each race we do. Since we, TMDR, rents the track…we encourage youngsters to race…only if they understand and respect the rules like the older generation, only if they wear all the proper racing gear, and they have patience to wait their turn. We had six competitors…AND ALL WERE WINNERS!!! Out of San Antonio 10 year old Dylan Copeland whose proud father is Bandido Lynn. Another 10 year old Bandido Lynn brought was Michael Wollerizin also out of San Antonio. Then we had three brothers out of Cypress, TX: 11 yr. Nick Schutt, 6 yr. Nathan Schutt, and 9 yr. Noah Schutt. Their father Kevin Schutt won 1st place for the bracket ET – 6 & above for all-bikes at this event. The sixth lil’ junior racer was 7 year old out of New Caney, TX- Lil’ Shaky Jaky- Jacob Allen – our grandson. He’s been racing since he’s been three. AND HE WAS HAPPY TO HAVE COMPETION!!! There was also a grudge match between Lil’ Shaky Jaky and Bandido Chad out of Galveston. Last year Shaky won twice but this time he won once and Bandido Chad won once. Will Chad win both times next race? Or is Shaky just toying him? We’ll see. If you have a junior – please call me before you show up – to learn the do’s & don’t’s.FOR MORE INFO www.texasmotorcycledragracing.com or call 281-689-9557.
