Racin’ Has No Boundries – For Too Much Fun !
By Becky

Deep in the Heart of this Great Country of Texas spring has sprung, TMDR first of the year MOTORCYCLE DRAG RACE was on the Navasota Raceway, Navasota, TX. For two big days –March 26 & 27, 2011. As we promote an uniquely All-American sport for any type of bike made, our motorcycle drag racing event will provide the die-hard addicts, the-need-for-speed, some fast-fix and relief after a very long winter…be it Harley, Metric, ATV, and, yes, motorized beer coolers or bar stools. The track is an 1/8th mile that had plenty of shutdown. Each day we had a complete run-off of sport/street bikes-be it Harley or Metric. TMDR offers 40-plus heads-up classes for about any bike made – even baggers. Let us not forget our Bracket ET Racing.

TMDR wants to thank Independence Harley Davidson of College Station, TX for being our major sponsor this event. Also, a big THANK YOU to our other sponsors Skunk Dots Biker News Magazine, Fas Coonass Racing, TMFC Racing, and A big hug to Russ Welch and Pat Cole. Independence H-D sponsored the following list of winners: bikini contest winner- Charla Hargrove of Cleveland, TX, Lowest RT – “Ridin’ Randal” Hayden of West Tawakoni, TX. of Iron Horse Racing. (Ridin’ Randal is sponsored by Frozen Drinks of Garland, TX., B & B Leather of Terrill, TX. and Gilligan;s Biker Barn of Tawakoni, TX.) , Burnout Contest - Booze Fighter’s Kevin “Shut” Schutt of Spring, TX., People’s Choice of the Bike Show Winner – Phillip Palmer of Navasota, TX., Sunday’s King of the Cash Winner- Paul Holman of Houston, TX. The “MAD MAN of SPRING, TX via WILLIS” John Koehnle brought his beloved “Turtle” out to play – he’s been playing on this track for a while. Mad Man’s “Turtle” is the most monsterous, Nitro-snortinous home-made Harley you’ll ever see. He made everything himself except the rubber items. However, if John had time enough to grow the rubber plants – he’s make his own tires. What a treat again to see his “TURTLE” that out ran his hares, I mean, Foes. The Mad Man won Top Fuel Harley with 150mph – ON THIS EIGHTH MILE.

Richardson, TX’s “Captain Chrome“ Paul Jones declared the Harley Nostalgia Top Fuel win. In the Harley Destroyer Class Garland, TX’S Bill Flaherty took his spot in history.

TMDR had three junior racers: Nate Schutt, Nick, Schutt, Noah Schutt.

There were two junior dragsters – both girls. The daughter of Rick & Camden Force, Elizabeth Peltier, of Baytown, TX, debuted her first run down any track. In fact, at the end of her first trip down towards the finish line was a snake…she promptly shut off her motor & waited for daddy. She’ll never forget that first adventure down the track. There was another memorable event, Top Fueler Mad Man did not accept his trophy but gave it to Miss Liz…she found a special spot at home for that…and a spot in her heart that will forever be there.

TMDR allowed overnight camping for racers and spectators. Cold beer was available through the local VFW – they kept all the proceeds. All vendors sat-up free with gate admittance…as always.

More than other organized sport, TMDR’s motorcycle drag racing has willingly opened itself to making this sport as simple and affordable as possible for everyone – be it a pro …an everyday fella off the street that wants an adrenaline rush (or money)…even to bring your whole family. Yes, I have kids classes. They have to adhere to big racers rules and safety equipment and they only run against themselves.

Next event: May 29, 2011, Redline Raceway, Caddo Mills, TX – East of Dallas. There’s overnite free camping with gate admittance – Saturday nite-the track has an event which is $10 but you have to tell them you are with TMDR. Sunday nite there is free camping with us. Gates open noon, tech opens 2pm, qualifying 4pm, and finals 8pm. Adults $20, kids under 12 free. Lowest RT $100 COURTESY OF 5150 RACING (SPORTSMAN/STREET BIKES ONLY). Wet T-Shirt 10pm $100, burnout contest $100. These winnings may rise as we get the show on. People’s Choice bike show. Remember, all makes and models of motorcycle welcome, check out our heads-up classes and bracket et. Class of eight in each pro category pays best money. Vendors set-up free with gate admittance but reserve spot ahead.
