"TEXAS HOME OF ALL-BIKE DRAG RACING"
![]() ![]() FOX NEWS BEAUMONT CHANNEL 64 was at this event-click on logo to read story and watch video.
By Becky Texas Motorcycle Drag Racing invaded the “Dale” on November 10, 2007 from Nitro Harleys to stock Harleys to metric sport racers. You ask where is the “Dale”? About 30 miles north of Beaumont, Texas right outside a lil’ ol’ town called Evadale. This is an excellent IHRA race track that’s a quarter mile with at least a half mile shutdown which is better known as Ben Bruce Memorial Airpark Raceway. We encountered three brief rounds of rain before we was able to launch the first duel-off at the starting line. My hat goes off to the track manager, Fred, for working hard-each time-to bring the race track back to “race ready” quality.. We could not have asked for better service to everyone concerned on this race day. All day and night, our tower announcer Daryl kept our ears busy with our surrounding activities and who was doing what and why. He also tried his darnest to keep our schedule on track. A special big THANKS to my sponsors Fas Coonass Racing Randal Andras and Skunk Dots Biker Magazine for their generous help and support. Entertainment was provided by Illegal Intentions which is a stunt bike group that certainly kept the fence line crowded at all times while they were performing. Our track was graced by Fox News 64 out of Beaumont who sent out a couple of really nice ladies…I’m sure we’ll see a whole lot more of those lovely ladies at our future events cheering everyone on. TMDR offers a Heads-up class for about every imaginable type of bike made-basically, you run-what-ya-ride…from Nitro Harleys to street Harleys to metric bikes. You race against your own make and model. Of course, we offer mixed bike bracket racing for the dial-inners. You race for cash and trophies. Oh, you say you don’t have a bike but you have an ATV – well, we have that class covered. From stock to modified, bring it and run-what-you-ride. The Nitro Harley fuel winners were Jimbo Knight of Boyce, LA and David Leaber of Belle Chase, LA. Jimbo is sponsored by Knight’s Automotive-The Shop, Leaber’s Fab Shop, Kittler’s Machine Shop, and Bailey True King. David is sponsored The Shop, Knight’s Automotive, Leaber’s Welding, Kittler’s Machine Shop, and Bailey Trucking. Galveston’s Terry Teague took the Harley Top Gas win with his 2006 Destroyer. I would like to honorably mention MAD Racing’s Mark Derryberry of Baytown and Iron Dog Racing’s Zack Sayre of New Ulm, TX. Also, Cherry Family Racing’s Al Cherry of Rye, TX – all made the trip but because of uncertain weather conditions…they did not race. VICT, POL,HO, SUZ,KAW Marshal Harmon 8.56 161.06 After the show-down of all the heads-up class winners, we asked for each class winner’s dial-in for bracket racing to race for the cash. This was a battle down to the very last round of the fittest pair or the last two men standing…or should I say-racing. Ironically, the last two were one modified Hayabusa with Marshal Harmon of Kinder, LA and a brand-new stock 2007 Hayabusa with Jesse Carter from Newton. Marshal’s dial-in was 8.80 and Jesse’s was dial-in 10.20. Now if either pilot under bids his dial-in-he automatically loses but whoever comes the closest to the mark-wins. Marshal ran an et 9.1917 at 137.91 mph. Jesse ran the closest with an et 10.2451 at 135.30 mph. Congratulations, Jesse – he took home the loot!! KING OF THE CASH CLASS (Y) JESSE CARTER 10.24 135.30 ALL-BIKE MIXED BRACKET RACING STREET LOWER 12.99 ET WINNER ERIC PLUNKETT (dial-in 12.00) 12.03 121.13 RUNNER-UP DAVID GASER (dial-in 11.70) 11.94 108.36 If you look at these dial-ins and how close each accomplished, this final round was a show-stopper. This race certainly could be called the “fast & the furious”. STREET HIGHER 13.00 ET WINNER BUTCH ADAMSON (dial-in 14.50) 14.61 89.06 RUNNER-UP ROBIE KERR (dial-in 13.00) 13.27 96.96 This bracket event was quite interesting –the last pair was a young lad versus his sponsor. Butch of Cat Spring, TX is seventeen while his opponent Robie Kerr of Conroe, TX of an really old unknown age is his sponsor with his business-RPM Cycles. I’m sure Butchie thought just for a moment of letting Robie win BUT nah, all friendships stop at the starting line. Notice how close these dial-ins were…Butch came within .11 while Robie’s was .27. WHAT A RACE!!! Yep, we sure had some mighty fine racing on such a marvelous track. We’re looking forward to coming back there next year. Hope to see everyone there – so you will have a “Tale from the Dale” to speak about …I mean brag about to others. The "DALE" is an excellent, just recently re-surfaced, quarter mile track with a half mile shutdown. Directions to Ben Bruce Memorial Airpark Raceway Park ![]() ![]() ![]()
